Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Portmint ("Portmint," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit portmint.com, when a business uses our services, and when a person interacts with a Portmint-powered AI assistant that we host for one of our business clients. By visiting portmint.com, loading or interacting with a Portmint-powered assistant or widget, or otherwise using the service, you acknowledge the data practices described in this Policy.

1. Who is responsible for your data

  • Our own site & customers. For visitors to portmint.com and the businesses who buy our service, Portmint is the controller of that information.
  • End-user chats on a client's assistant. When you chat with an AI assistant Portmint hosts for a business (the "Client"), that Client is the controller of your information and Portmint acts as their service provider / processor, handling the data on the Client's behalf and under our agreement with them. Please also review that business's own privacy policy.

2. Information we collect

We collect the categories below from people and businesses who use portmint.com and the Portmint-powered assistants we host. Some you provide directly; much of it is collected automatically whenever you visit a page, load or open the widget, or interact with an assistant.

CategoryExamples
Device & technical dataIP address, approximate location (derived from IP), browser and device type, operating system, language, screen/viewport, referrer and exit pages, and unique device/session identifiers — collected automatically whenever a page or the widget loads.
Usage & interactionPages and features viewed, links and buttons clicked, time on page, scroll and session activity, when the widget is opened, and how you navigate and interact with the site and assistants.
Account & billing (Clients)Name, business name, email, phone, and the details needed to set up, manage, and bill the service.
Inquiries & leadsInformation you submit — name, email, phone, company, message — when you contact us, complete a form, or a Client's assistant captures a lead.
Chat contentThe full content of your conversations with a Portmint-powered assistant — the messages you type, any details you provide (e.g., to ask a question, book, or get help), and metadata about the conversation.
Cookies & similar techCookies, local storage, pixels, and similar technologies used to run and secure the site, remember preferences, and measure and improve usage.
InferencesInferences and insights we draw from the above (e.g., interests, intent, or the kinds of questions asked) to operate and improve the service.

3. How we use information

  • To provide, operate, secure, personalize, analyze, and improve the service and the AI assistants.
  • To answer questions, capture leads, and book appointments on behalf of the relevant business.
  • To bill Clients, provide support, and communicate about the service (including service and, where permitted, marketing messages).
  • To monitor for abuse and keep the service safe and reliable (including audit logs of actions the AI takes).
  • For research, analytics, and product development — and to develop, train, benchmark, and improve our own products, systems, and AI models using de-identified and aggregated data (see §6).

4. How the AI provider is involved

The assistants are powered by a third-party large-language-model provider. The text of a conversation is sent to that provider to generate a reply. We use providers under terms that restrict their use of the content to providing the service. We do not allow the conversation content to be used to train third-party public models where that option is available to us.

5. Who we share information with

  • Service providers who help us run the service (e.g., hosting, database, the AI model provider, payment processing) — only as needed and under contract.
  • The relevant business Client whose assistant you used (their assistant exists to serve them).
  • Legal/safety — to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights and safety.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

6. Aggregated & de-identified data — and "do we sell data?"

We do not sell your personal information. We do not sell or rent the content of your individual conversations, your name, your email, or other information that identifies you.

We may aggregate and de-identify the data we collect so it can no longer reasonably be used to identify any person, and we may then use, retain, share, and publish that de-identified and aggregated data for any business purpose — including developing, training, benchmarking, and improving our products, systems, and AI models, as well as research, analytics, and industry insights. Before data is used this way it is stripped of personal identifiers and combined so individuals cannot be singled out. If we ever change the "we don't sell personal information" practice, we will update this policy and provide any choices the law requires (including a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" option where applicable).

7. Your choices & rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., California/CCPA-CPRA, or the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, to opt out of certain processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. For data tied to a Client's assistant, we will forward your request to that Client and assist them. To make a request, contact us at hello@portmint.net.

8. Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements, then delete or de-identify it. Clients may request deletion of their data and their end-users' data per our agreement.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information — least-privilege access, audit logging of AI actions, encryption in transit, and gated/destructive-action controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Children

The service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

11. International users

We operate from the United States. If you use the service from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries with different data-protection laws.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with an updated date and, where required, provide additional notice.
