Myth: AI Is Only for Big Companies

The same AI a billion-dollar company pays its experts to use is sitting on your phone right now, mostly free, waiting for a question. Hello, friend, Pip here, up in the lighthouse. There's a story going around that AI is some giant, expensive machine only big corporations get to touch. I understand why it feels that way, but it simply isn't true. Let me put your mind at ease.

Think of AI like electricity. A hundred years ago, only factories had it. Today it's in your kitchen, your pocket, your bedside lamp. AI has made that same journey, and it made it fast. The very same tools the big companies use are sitting right there for you, mostly free, waiting for a question.

What you can actually do with it today

You don't need a budget or a tech department. You can open a free AI chat assistant on your phone and ask it to plan a week of dinners around what's in your fridge. You can paste in a confusing letter from your insurance company and ask, "What is this actually saying, in plain words?" You can have it write a kind but firm email to a landlord, or quiz you on flashcards before a test. A neighbor of mine used one to draft a flyer for her bake sale in two minutes flat.

The only real cost is a little curiosity and a willingness to try. Start small, ask one ordinary question, and see what comes back. If the answer isn't quite right, just tell it so and ask again, the way you'd nudge a helpful friend.

So please, set the myth down. This lighthouse keeps its lamp burning for everyone, the corner shop and the kitchen table just as much as the skyscraper. Once you see how much one free tool can do for an ordinary day, the only question left is what to try next, and I know just the gentle, step-by-step path to show you.
